Lalbhai Dalpatbhai College of Engineering, Ahmedabad is a premier engineering institute in Gujarat State set with the objectives of imparting higher education, research and training in various fields of engineering & technology. The institute is affiliated to Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad and administrated by Department of Technical education, Gujarat State, Gandhinagar.
The institute was established in June 1948 with a generous donation of Rs. 25 lacs and 31.2 Hectres of land by the textile magnate Sheth Shri Kasturbhai Lalbhai. Hence College is named as Lalbhai Dalpatbhai College of Engineering. It is situated adjacent to Gujarat University buiding and is located at the nucleus of various national level institutes such as PRL, ATIRA, IIM etc. The campus is having buildings for various departments, offices, hostels, residences for Principal, rector and wardens. The plinth area of college and hostel buildings admeasures 45,220 sq.m. and 12,556 sq.m. respectively.
am proud to put on record that LDCE hosted state level ISTE convention on 1st Jan., 2015 wherein more than 200 faculties from across state participated and presented research paper on theme technical education beyond 2020. This function was held in the auspicious presence of Hon.Minister of Education Shri Bhupendrasinh Chudasma. Prof B J shah was awarded Best Paper Award for the paper title “Improving Employability Quotient Engineering Graduates- A case study of TEQIP College of the state of Gujarat”. Thereafter we have also successfully organized the year marked event named “Lakshya-A socio edu fest” during 5-7th Feb., 2015. The event was inaugurated by Hon.State Minister of Education Smt. Vasuben Trivedi. This was followed by Blood donation camp held on 17-18th March 2015 in association with Ahmedabad Red Cross Society wherein students donated 365 units of blood. LDCE also hosted GTU TECH-FEST on 27-28th March 2015 where nearly 9000+ students participated in more than 45 events.
I feel proud to inform you that our ROBOCON Student team stood 2nd Runner up in the Robocon National Contest 2015-ROBOMINTON held from 5-7th March at MIT Pune. Also our Volley Ball team stood first in GTU inter-zone tournament. LDCE girl student representing GTU badminton girl’s team won the West zone AIU competition. Computer Engineering Student – Madhish Parikh was awarded Best NSS Volunteer Award by Hon. President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee at New Delhi.
I would like to congratulate Prof B J Shah for receiving the award for Best Research Paper Award during ISTE convention, Prof.(Captain) C S Sanghavi for NCC, NSS and Blood donation & other social activity by leading from the front. I also place on record the effort of Prof A T Motiyani-Sports Coordinator, Prof V G Trivedi-Coordinator Badminton team and Prof. H A Shukla-coordinator volley ball team & other faculty coordinator for giving momentum to the sports activity in the campus. I congratulate all the students for participating and winning the tech-fest event, ROBOCON event and sports event held in the recent days.
But this is not the end, as still we have to do a lot in the field of Research and Development to be in line with the Premier institute of India such as IIT.
I am sure that if we continue with the same spirit, zeal and enthusiasm then days are not far when LDCE will be at the top in all walks of life.
