Modern High School for Girls, Kolkata, was founded in 1952 by Mrs. Rukmani Devi Birla. Its first Principal was Mrs. Violet Clarke. Widely perceived as a school which has combined tradition and modernity, Indian and other cultures in a successful mix, the school does not favour any particular sect or religion and has always embraced different communities without bias. The declared twin mission of the school is committment to continuous self-development and service to society.
